Quotes By Ash Ketchum
"Each area of knowledge is becoming increasingly less accessible to the uninitiated, and even each of them seems to be divided into sub-areas in a continuous process framentacón "Arthur Fisher
With this quotation from one of Fisher's books I want to start this new post. The Fisher grounds for today is very evident in my opinion, is something to look at the amount of post titles today universities offer these days, each day is a specialty, a sub-area of subject knowledge. as anecdote I remember in my first year of psychology at UFRO a teacher told us "a specialist is someone who knows more and more about less and less "(no idea if she thought or took it from somewhere).
The thing is that today this fragamentación raises a million new terms that make that communication between areas is becoming increasingly complicated. (idea also found in fisher)
CP Snow talks on a novel about two cultures: science and the world of arts and letters.
I should clarify that there is some confusion here, some people argued that the second culture is the common people do not understand science.
Snow said that should arise a third culture that unites the two. So far that has not been given, but the author John Brockman notes that "although it came in any case a third culture: it is one established by scientists who came to communicate directly with the public" (from the same fisher chapter).
Basically it is these scientists who have left the world and people want to explain things in words they can understand, not to the intellectual air resbuscadas words that many use when they "explain" something (I put the "" because I assume that instead of explaining many want to flaunt your knowledge). Personally I charge these people, to find not polite to speak in technical terms, the trouble is that abounds that kind of attitude in students, and do not say that people are well, they are "ample" or "believed" in themselves but we all give that kind of "attacks."
in my opinion, we should go out and tell the world what we know. Let us not be fools, we can talk and explain things in normal words, it may take longer, but you can not let loose and poorly educated.
A blog dedicated to this in the third culture is this: http://terceracultura.cl/about/
(great name haha). They inspired me a bit to think about this. on that link may see a little more explained the issue.
I leave you alone with this entry for now ... now that I have finished porfin, I have listed the prelude to the real topic of this address queiro.
Thanks for reading!
